Jim & Shawn Miller are now responsible for the success of the family business. They share the duties of leadership and direction of the Reser Funeral Home. The sacred bonds of their marriage carry through their commitment to the funeral service. Shawn is the daughter of the late John F. and Louise Barefield Reser and grew up with two sisters living in the Reser Funeral Home. Everyone in town knew the Reser family and the children; Marilyn, Mary Shawn and LuAnne. Being the daughter of funeral directors it seemed natural that Shawn was a part of whatever happened around the funeral home. Shawn was a National Honor Society graduate of Warsaw High School in 1970. She received a Bachelors Degree in Business Education from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri in 1973. She became a Business Department teacher at Warsaw High School for five years and then returned to the funeral home after the death of her mother in 1978.
Shawn was always open to the fact that she would always be a part of the Reser Funeral Home, but was not sure what the future might bring. That future included Jim Miller. They began dating during high school and in 1971, Jim began working, as an ambulance attendant, at the funeral home during school breaks. He graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in the Spring of 1973, and came back to the funeral home as a full-time employee. In November of 1973, Jim & Shawn were married.
They have two sons, James D. and John Weston, who have become the third generation of the Reser Funeral Home and owned and operate Kaysinger Crematory. They also are blessed with six grandchildren, twins, Grant James and Grady Keith, Ella Grace, Gage Samuel, Mason Bradley and James Ruben. By 1982 Jim & Shawn began a partnership with John Reser in the operation of the funeral home thereby fulfilling a goal of the Reser family to assure continuation of the business in the family. John Reser retired in 1995 and sold the rest of the business to Jim & Shawn. In 2015, their sons, James D. and John Weston, joined in partnership and responsibilities of the daily operations of the business. The tradition lives on.

JIm Miller, is a third generation funeral director and embalmer, who grew up in the funeral business with his parents and grandfather, helping out around the funeral home since a very early age. Jim has been a native of the Benton County area living here all of his life. He attended the Warsaw Public School system and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1996, where he was a varsity letterman in baseball, golf and football. In May of 2001 he graduated from Drury University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Secondary Education. While attending Drury, Jim was Student Director of the Comer Outreach Program. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Social Fraternity and the Phi Alpha Theta Historial Honor Society. In August of 2004, he graduated from Arapahoe School of Mortuary Science, in Denver, Colorado, and received his license to practice embalming from the State of Missouri in November of 2005. Jim is past-president of the Warsaw Lions Club and the Warsaw R-9 Board of Education. He serves as a councilman for the Warsaw City Planning and Zoning Board. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, bike riding, playing golf and scuba diving. Jim is married to Derenda Daugherty, formerly of Hartville, Missouri and licensed funeral director. They are the proud parents of identical twin sons, Grant James and Grady Keith Miller, graduates of State Fair Community College, a daughter, Ella Grace Miller, who is a junior at Warsaw High School and Gage Samuel Miller who is in second grade at Cornerstone Academy in Warsaw.

Derenda (Daugherty) Miller has been a licensed funeral director with the State of Missouri since 2010. She owned and operated Farmers Insurance in Warsaw until 2020 when she sold her book of business and began her involvement in the funeral home. Derenda is a graduate of Hartville High School in Hartville, Missouri and a graduate of Missouri State University, with a degree in Psychology.
Derenda is the wife of Jim Miller. They are the proud parents of identical twin sons, Grant & Grady Miller, who attend State Fair Community College, a daughter, Ella Grace Miller, who is a freshman at Warsaw High School and Gage Samuel Miller who is in the first grade at Warsaw North Elementary.

Grady Miller, son of Jim & Derenda Miller is the fourth generation of the Reser family working at the funeral home. Grady is a 2021 graduate of Warsaw High School and is currently taking classes at State Fair Community College pursing an Associate’s Degree in Psychology. His future plans are to attended mortuary school and obtain his license to practice embalming. He also plans to pursue his funeral directors license as well.
